BLF opposes Zuma’s imprisonment

Published on

BLF has expressed its support of Jacob Zuma, calling for his immediate release from prison and condemning what it believes to be a defamation campaign against the former president.

On Thursday, 8 July 2021, the Black First Land First (BLF) party called for the unconditional release of former president, Jacob Zuma, further denouncing the sentence as an unjust conviction and imprisonment on bogus charges which lacks material evidence. The BLF also condemned what it has referred to as a defamation campaign against the former president, stating that it has not stopped since the imperialist sponsored removal of him from office in 2018.

BLF stated that it continues to maintain its ideological coherence in what it considers to be trying times, claiming that the capital thinks it can buy itself time to undermine Zuma and lock him up. The BLF also claimed that this situation needs to be used to reclaim the African National Congress (ANC). The party called Zuma the “father” of radical economic transformation, stating that he reportedly made progressive moves in his tenure and that the ANC has defeated this.

The BLF further claimed that the judiciary of the country has been captured. The party stated that it is not surprised by the persecution of Zuma by the judiciary, as it is a “further expression of the judiciary’s capture by imperialism in cohorts with the settler white monopoly capital forces aided by their agents.”
