Legendary musician Beyoncé released the trailer for her upcoming Netflix original film titled Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé.
The trailer was shared on Netflix, YouTube and various other digital platforms on Monday, 8 April 2019. The film is expected to centre around the performer’s 2018 Coachella performance.
The Netflix original documentary will serve as the first time the full performance will be available for viewing since its initial 2018 stream from the festival. Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé is scheduled for release on Wednesday, 17 April 2019.
The trailer features a voice over from the late American poet, Maya Angelou, who speaks about representing the African American race in a positive and impactful way. She talks about using her platform to make a change and complete the mission she was put on earth to do.
The trailer shows visuals of the behind-the-scenes action that took place before and after the iconic performance. Private footage of Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy is seen, along with scenes of herself with her husband Jay-Z.
The artist gives viewers a chance to see all that went into the ground-breaking performance, whilst giving them a glimpse into her usually private life.
The 2018 performance served as the first time in history that a black woman headlined the Coachella Festival. It included cameos from Jay-Z and her younger sister Solange, as well as Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland from the singer’s former group, Destiny’s Child.
