B4SA calls for leadership by business in the implementation of mandatory vaccines for economic recovery

B4SA Steering Chair, Martin Kingston stressed the need for businesses to take the lead in providing guidance on mandatory vaccinations for the sake of the economic recovery of SA.

Business for South Africa’s Martin Kingston issued his weekly newsletter on Tuesday, 12 October 2021. He highlighted how there seems to be growing apathy towards vaccination, as many people have been reported to have not returned for their second vaccination jabs of the Pfizer vaccine.

He noted how Dr Ron Whelan of Discovery pointed out in a B4SA webinar that all employees have rights, and not only the unvaccinated ones. This was in relation to the topic of mandatory vaccinations where he stated that employers and businesses too have rights, including a legal and moral obligation to provide safe workplaces and safe services to customers.

Kingston believes that business has a leadership role to play in providing guidance and taking initiative in implementing mandatory vaccines for the country to get back on track in business, so as to maximise on economic recovery.
