ATM rallies behind vote of no confidence in Ramaphosa

The ATM’s Mzwanele Manyi was recently interviewed to affirm the party’s support of the vote of no confidence in President Cyril Ramaphosa, further highlighting the merit in a secret ballot.

The African Transformation Movement’s (ATM) Head of Policy and Strategy, Mzwanele Manyi took to Twitter on Tuesday, 1 December 2020, to confirm that the ATM is in support of the vote of no confidence in the president. The ATM’s stance comes on the back of a list of allegations levelled against President Cyril Ramaphosa and members of the ruling party. Moreover, Ramaphosa’s alleged silence on certain issues has led to criticism of how he deals with members of his cabinet who have been implicated in corrupt dealings.

Another detail that Manyi unpacked was the call for the vote of no confidence to be a secret ballot. In explaining his reason, Manyi shared a screenshot stating, “As in the case with general elections where a secret ballot is deemed necessary to enhance the freeness and fairness of the elections, so it is with the election of the President by the National Assembly.”
