ATM calls for South Africa to take firmer stand against Israel

The ATM’s Zungula and Manyi have used their social media platforms to continue to raise awareness on the conditions faced by Palestinians, further calling on the government to take a firmer stand against the matter.

Leader of the African Transformation Movement (ATM), Vuyolwethu Zungula took to Twitter on Tuesday, 11 May 2021, to highlight the state of affairs in Palestine. Although the post was a deviation from his continued posts on the need for the prioritisation of South Africans locally, it seemed to carry a similar train of thought. Zungula suggested that Palestinians should be afforded a country or independent state to call their own.

He stated, “With all the atrocities happening against the people of Palestine. (South Africa’s) SA government hasn’t condemned anything, Israel embassy hasn’t been closed, Israel companies are freely operating in SA. Countries were there for SA during Apartheid, least SA can do is to be there for Palestine.” [sic]

Mzwanele Manyi continued the advocacy when he took to Twitter on the same day and suggested that South Africa may find itself in a similar situation in the coming years if it does not actively condemn Israel.
