ArcelorMittal announces resignation of Jacob Modise from board

ArcelorMittal has released a statement confirming the resignation of one of its independent non-executive directors, Jacob Modise, which took effect on Tuesday, 26 January 2021.

ArcelorMittal South Africa limited released a statement on Wednesday, 27 January 2021, to announce the resignation of one of its independent non-executive directors, Jacob Modise. The statement, without providing a reason for his resignation, stated that the resignation took effect on Tuesday, 26 January 2021.

Speaking on Modise’s contribution to the board of directors, the statement noted, “Mr Modise was also the Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee and this vacancy will be filled by the Board in due course, in accordance with section 94(6) of the Companies Act.”

The statement further stated, “The Chairman of the Board, Mr Mpho Makwana, wishes to extend the appreciation of the Board to Mr Modise for the valuable contribution he has made to the company as a director for almost eight years.”
