Published on

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been announced as the keynote speaker for the upcoming National Men’s Dialogue, an initiative spearheaded by the ruling party to address GBV and femicide.

President Cyril Ramaphosa was announced as the keynote speaker for the upcoming National Men’s Dialogue through the African National Congress’ (ANC) Twitter page on Thursday, 3 September 2020. According to the post, the initiative seeks to “discuss concrete actions towards gender equality and the elimination of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide.” The National Dialogue is scheduled to start at 18:00 on Friday, 4 September 2020.

The virtual session will be broadcast live across that ruling party’s social media pages, with the public being encouraged to sit in. Members of the media will be granted access to the Zoom session to possibly pose their questions to the president. It is unclear whether more speakers will be announced before the session, as Ramaphosa is currently the only listed speaker.
