ANC staff serve notice of protest against delayed salary payments

Published on

ANC staff have served the party with a protest notice detailing their plans to march to all ANC offices to express their grievances at the delayed salary payments.

On Wednesday, 9 June 2021, the African National Congress (ANC) released a statement on the delay of staff payments within the party. National Spokesperson for the ANC, Pule Mabe claimed that after an ANC general staff meeting, staff will protest on the issue of delayed salary payments.

ANC staff held a meeting and have given their employer notice in accordance with labour regulations of planned industrial action, scheduled for Tuesday, 15 June 2021. The ANC has reportedly been facing challenges related to paying staff members on time.

Mabe stated, “Although staff was informed that officials were attending to the ANC cash flow challenges, the grievances around their conditions of employment has reached [a] critical point.” ANC staff are expected to protest at Luthuli House and all provincial and regional ANC offices. Elected ANC officials at all levels are to receive a staff memorandum.
