ANC details purpose of new youth task team
Following the announcement of the ANCYL NYTT members, the party shared a statement detailing that the purpose of the task team is to prepare for the upcoming ANCYL conference.
The African National Congress (ANC) took to Twitter on Thursday, 8 April 2021, to share the purpose of the newly formed ANC Youth League National Youth Task Team (ANCYL NYTT). On the day, Secretary-General, Ace Magashule introduced the task team that consists of over 30 members.
According to the statement, “The ANCYL NYTT will primarily serve as a National Preparatory Committee charged with the responsibility to prepare the ANCYL for the conference. Its key tasks are to strengthen and consolidate existing structures of the youth league and to build new ones with the consultation with regions and provinces. It is also charged with the responsibility to develop and roll out a plan of action, bringing together young people from different facets as a build-up to the envisaged elective conference.”
No word on the recruitment process was detailed. However, it is clear that following the last ANCYL conference, which resulted in some of the members lambasting senior members and suggesting that the youth league consists of executive members that do not represent it, the party is looking to avoid a similar occurrence.
