The ANC NEC took to Twitter to confirm a delay in the publicising of the closing remarks from its recent meeting, which is suspected to have dealt with the possible removal of Ace Magashule.
The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) took to Twitter on Sunday, 28 March 2021, to provide an update on its NEC meeting, which started on Friday, 26 March 2021. While the party might have had a number of topics on the agenda, the most contentious of those was reportedly the possible removal of the Secretary-General, Ace Magashule.
It has been alleged that ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa is being pressurised by people in his faction to remove Magashule from his position. However, the fight is suggested to have an additional layer of factional fighting, therefore, making it difficult to remove Magashule from his position. The delay in the feedback is believed to be as a result of the in-fighting while the ruling party attempts to find an amicable resolution to the matter. It is still unclear when the party will provide further details on the outcomes of the meeting.
