The African National Congress took on Twitter to wish Bongani Bongo a happy birthday, prompting criticism as he still has a bribery case looming over his head.
The African National Congress (ANC) took to Twitter on Monday, 29 June 2020, to wish its member of Parliament, Bongani Bongo, a happy forty-second birthday. In the caption to the post, the ruling party stated, “We wish Comrade Bongo long life and good health.”
The post had a typo, as it referred to Bongo as a “her” instead of a “him.” However, that was not the public’s biggest issue; what raised a lot of questions was the ruling party’s continued support and celebration of Bongo, despite the bribery case looming over his head.
Bongo’s case was postponed to August due to the global pandemic.

Crook. Skelm. Dishonest. But then again that's what ANC applauds.
