ANC assures of its elections programme readiness in media briefing

Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula has issued the ANC’s full statement on its plans for the upcoming LGE, confirming that the party’s programme is firmly on track.

On Thursday, 16 September 2021, the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula issued a statement on the African National Congress’ (ANC) plans for the upcoming local government elections (LGE). The statement follows the ANC briefing that was held to detail its plans and manifesto launch preparations.

The ruling party confirmed and assured that its 2021 local government elections programme is firmly on track and in full swing. It also expressed that it is happy that all of its processes are proceeding according to plan to meet the timelines set out by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The ANC further called on its rank and file, volunteers, supporters, leaders and its structures across all levels to go out and mobilise for the voter registration weekend. Moreover, to do the same for the manifesto launches and then vote for the ANC on Monday, 1 November 2021, in order to restore confidence of the people in the ANC.

When is the ANC launching its manifesto?

The ANC is set to launch its election manifesto in the City of Tshwane on Monday, 27 September 2021. The launch is expected to be held with only five hundred people in attendance. The manifesto will be populated on all ANC digital platforms.

What are the ANC’s plans on voter registration weekend?

On Saturday, 18 September and Sunday, 19 September 2021, the movement, led by President Ramaphosa, will set out to mobilise and encourage communities on the ground to participate in the IEC’s Open Voter Registration Weekend and vote on 1 November 2021.

Where does the ANC stand in its Councillor Candidate Elections Process?

The ANC issued a directive that the dispute resolution process shall continue post the election date on Monday, 1 November 2021. It has confirmed that all of its structures worked tirelessly to meet the set deadline for the process.
