AKA’s mom reaches Mount Kilimanjaro summit

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes has conquered her long-time dream of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro.

Rapper, AKA took to social media this morning to congratulate his mother, Lynn Forbes for successfully having reached Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. Forbes was part of the Trek4Mandela expedition group which embarked on the hike mission in honour of Mandela Day yesterday, 18 July 2018. She is also an ambassador for Caring4girls which aims to support two million school girls with sanitary wear by 2020.

AKA shared a Whatsapp message sent to him by his mother yesterday.

The rapper captioned the image, ““Always knew you’d be on top again. Supa Mega she on top again!” #Trek4Mandela CONGRATULATIONS MOM! ❤️ Super insanely proud that you set your mind to it, and you did it! It’s been your dream to climb Kilimanjaro for YEARS & YEARS!!! Can’t believe you actually went ahead and did it!! 😂😂😂 What a crazy, driven, inspiring Mom. I love you. ❤️💕 PS. When we were younger Dad used to play us that Johnny Clegg song, “I’m sitting on the top of KILIMANJARO, I can see a new tomorrow!” … 🎶🎵🌁” Listening to it right now 😋😋😋.”

In an interview with Bona Magazine, Lynn Forbes revealed that summiting Mount Kilimanjaro has been a life-long dream. She candidly admitted that the dream had been an escape for her during a difficult time in her childhood during which she experienced sexual abuse. The expedition also served as a way to celebrate her fiftieth birthday she said.
