AfriForum ready for Malema’s court appearance on assault charges

Published on

Ernst Roets took to Twitter to confirm that AfriForum is set to meet Julius Malema in court this week, as the proceedings for his assault charges are set to continue

AfriForum’s Ernst Roets took to Twitter on Saturday, 6 March 2021, to confirm the court date where Julius Malema will make his next appearance on the charges of assault laid by the political formation. The assault charges in question were levelled against him and fellow Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. The two allegedly assaulted an officer outside the cemetery where struggle stalwart, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, was laid to rest.

The last time Malema and Ndlozi appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court was in late 2020, with the case ultimately being postponed. Now, the case is set to continue, however, there has been no word yet on the desired consequences by AfriForum. Moreover, there has been no word yet on the implications if Malema and Ndlozi are found guilty.

In his post, Roets revealed that the court case will resume on Tuesday, 9 March 2021. Roets did not reveal the time, however, some members of the EFF have been populating a dismissive hashtag of AfriForum, suggesting that the court case is the formation’s continued targeting of Malema.
