AfriForum advises members not to be deterred by the EFF’s presence
AfriForum took to Twitter to advise its members to not be deterred by the presence of the EFF in Senekal, further clarifying that it is still in pursuit of justice.
AfriForum’s Kallie Kriel took to Twitter on Friday, 16 October 2020, to share a public service announcement. Kriel addressed the party’s members regarding the presence of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Senekal. The Julius Malema-led party claims to be there to ensure that the Constitution is upheld, and that no state property is damaged again.
In the video shared, Kriel encouraged members to not be deterred on the pursuit of justice, despite the presence of the EFF. According to visuals shared by the media and on social media, hundreds appear to have gathered outside the court for the Brendin Horner trial.
Kriel suggested that members are currently convening outside the court. However, he advised that should they feel unsafe because of the protesters, they should stay indoors. Currently, despite tensions and suggestions of imminent violence, the gathering appears to be relatively peaceful.
