Funzi Ngobeni took to Twitter to endorse this week’s disparaging ANC-themed hashtag, further noting that the endorsement thereof is important because it indicates voters’ lack of confidence in the party.
ActionSA’s Interim Director of Operations, Funzi Ngobeni took to Twitter on Thursday, 18 March 2021, to endorse the disparaging hashtag against the African National Congress (ANC). Every other week on Twitter, the hashtag is reintroduced to spark commentary on how the ruling party has supposedly failed the citizens of South Africa.
The most recent resurgence of the hashtag followed the ruling party’s handling of the memorial service of King Goodwill Zwelithini. Power utility, Eskom, suspended load-shedding between 10:00 and 14:00, as a way for the country to mourn together. The decision to do so further fuelled the belief that the supposed power crisis is a lie, as it is speculated to be a political tool used by the ruling party.
Therefore, Ngobeni expressed that the endorsement of the hashtag proves that confidence in the ruling party is dwindling. According to Ngobeni, the believed decline in voter confidence is an indicator of the possible voting trends, in light of the upcoming local elections.

Not only is #VoetsekANC an important campaign for South Africans to get behind, it is backed by the numbers.
In the next election, we can ensure the ANC does indeed Voetsek, if we all get out and VOTE 🗳#RIPAfricanNationalCongres pic.twitter.com/CnhMCc6vv3
