ActionSA’s Moseki has expressed being appalled at reports that suggest that more than 1 000 new EMPD recruits will only be deployed into the field in March 2022.
ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Tlhogi Moseki issued a statement on Friday, 15 October 2021, in which he noted that the city is to have 1 000 fewer EMPD Officers on the streets. Moseki expressed that the party is appalled at the reports that over 1 000 new recruits will not be deployed until March 2022.
He stated that this comes at a time when the recruits alleged that the city has failed to budget properly for the payment of salaries for the new officers. For many recruits, the delay in the appointments has plunged them into financial crisis.
He also emphasised how this means that the delay will result in less protection from criminals for residents of the city. Moseki concluded by pointing out many criminal issues plaguing the city, stating that even still, the city fails to deploy recruits.
