ActionSA is set to hold a press conference in which it will be calling on the president to act against what he has deemed a planned insurrection.
Gauteng Provincial Media Manager and Spokesperson for ActionSA, Nkele Molapo, on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, issued a media advisory on behalf of ActionSA. Molapo confirmed that the party would be leading measures to hold President Cyril Ramaphosa to account on insurrection claims.
The leader of ActionSA, Herman Mashaba, together with the Gauteng Chairperson, John Moodley, and the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Chairperson, Makhosi Khoza, are expected to hold a virtual press conference at 10:30. The press conference will be to address what ActionSA has observed as the casual manner in which the president of the country and South African law enforcement agencies have been dealing with the idea of what they have deemed as a deliberate and planned insurrection.
ActionSA noted that by definition, an insurrection suggests that those involved in the crime acted treasonously, to which end, they were involved in any country’s definition of the highest crime. The party also pointed out that such a claim required the strongest forms of action and openness with the people of South Africa. ActionSA confirmed that it will be announcing its action steps for the president to act on in prosecuting those involved.
