ActionSA has reminded the IEC’s legal team that it has until the close of business to file its responding affidavit, in opposition of its case against the IEC.
The National Chairperson of ActionSA, Michael Beaumont issued a statement on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, reiterating that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will need to have filed its responding affidavit by the close of business today. The affidavit expected from the IEC is in response to ActionSA having filed an application with the Electoral Court against the IEC, for its failure to fix the issue of the absence of the party’s name from final drafted ballot papers. The party’s logo allegedly appeared alone without the name.
Beaumont noted that the deadline arises from the directives issued by the registrar of the Electoral Court, and also stated that the party is keen to receive these papers and will be finalising its heads of argument as soon as possible for the matter to be dealt with urgently.

By close of business today, @IECSouthAfrica's legal team must file its responding affidavit.
We are so thankful for the support we have received from South Africans who are shocked at the IEC's handling of this matter.
We are one step closer to justice.https://t.co/pNy9bcHgOf
