ActionSA’s mayoral candidate, Moseki has announced that he will be writing to the Speaker of the Ekurhuleni Council, seeking a report on the whereabouts of Mayor Mzwandile Masina.
ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Tlhogi Moseki issued a statement on Friday, 13 August 2021, posing a question on whether Mzwandile Masina is still the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, and called for him to step aside. Moseki confirmed that he would be writing to the Speaker of the Ekurhuleni Council, seeking a report on the whereabouts of Masina.
Moseki noted that the mayor had contracted COVID-19 in early July, but claimed that Masina had since taken the opportunity, occasioned by his mandatory COVID-19 isolation, to further isolate himself from his responsibilities to the residents of Ekurhuleni. Moseki expressed that he believes that this is unacceptable.
The mayoral candidate further stated that if Masina’s absence is a result of him trying to evade having to deal with critical issues of corruption, RDP housing scandals, and runaway hijacking of buildings, which have yet to be addressed, then he needs to stop playing hide and seek and do the honourable thing, which is to resign. Moseki also emphasised that there would be no “ghost mayor” in the City of Ekurhuleni on ActionSA’s watch, and that the party would not tolerate a state of inaction and paralysis in service delivery.
