ActionSA’s Dr. Makhosi Khoza has confirmed that the party provided relief in the form of food parcels to families affected by the fires in Kennedy Road in eThekwini.
On Monday, 27 September 2021, ActionSA issued a statement by Dr. Makhosi Khoza, the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) eThekwini mayoral candidate, stating that the party has restored dignity to the fire victims of Kennedy Road informal settlement. This was following her visit to the area to deliver mobile toilets to the community.
Khoza noted how the African National Congress (ANC) in eThekwini had refused to provide proper sanitation and ablution facilities to the community, despite having done so for many others around the city. She also stated that over the weekend, the community was in flames and had displaced approximately 200 families who had yet to receive disaster management relief from the city.
Moreover, she alleged that no temporary shelter has been arranged for affected families, but confirmed that with the efforts of ActionSA’s ward 25 councillor, Vusi Xulu, the party managed to organise food parcels to provide families with some relief.
