ActionSA has confirmed having filed its final replying affidavit with the Electoral Court, in which it addressed four important matters arising from the papers filed by the IEC.
The National Chairperson of ActionSA, Michael Beaumont issued a statement on Monday, 18 October 2021, confirming that the party officially filed its final replying affidavit with the Electoral Court on Friday, completing its application before the court. The party stated that in its replying affidavit, it addressed four important matters arising from the papers filed by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
Firstly, that the IEC changed its focus from the registration of ActionSA to now relying on Section 23 of the Municipal Electoral Act and its power to produce ballot papers. Secondly, ActionSA included remedies to the IEC’s claims of impossibility to remedying the paper due to certain reasons. Thirdly, it also noted that the ward ballot papers presented in the IEC’s papers had been redesigned from the version presented at the sign-off and finally, the party addressed the IEC’s discontent at Mashaba’s communication.
