ACDP promises reliable and affordable energy supply in election manifesto

Published on

The ACDP has promised to deliver more reliable and affordable energy supply to the people, in an effort to combat energy issues such as load-shedding, in its manifesto.

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) promised to deliver reliable and affordable energy supply to the people as part of its election manifesto, on Wednesday, 20 October 2021. The ACDP noted that the power utility, Eskom’s unreliable electricity supply has resulted in widespread load-shedding.

The party pointed out how this has had a devastating impact on the economic growth and job creation of the country. To fix this, it has promised that it will amend the regulatory environment to allow independent developers to set up power plants of up to 100 megawatts.

It will also set out to allow municipalities that are in good financial standing to generate a purchase power from independent power producers. Additionally, it will encourage mines, farms, factories and other commercial enterprises to invest in their own generating plants, as this will contribute to local economic development and job creation.
