The ACDP has condemned the actions of the ruling party, as it ignored COVID-19 regulations and social distancing guidelines at its recent Siyanqoba Rally in Limpopo.
The African Christian Democratic Party’s (ACDP) leader, Kenneth Meshoe took to Twitter on Monday, 9 November 2020, to lambaste the African National Congress (ANC). This was after the ruling party hosted its last mass activation campaign ahead of the by-elections later this week.
The party hired the biggest stars from Limpopo to perform during the Siyanqoba Rally, which was hosted on Sunday, 8 November 2020. Currently, the limit on public gatherings is 500 people, who still need to adhere to social distancing. However, the one image that has circulated from the event showcases a disregard for these rules.
Moreover, the ruling party has removed all evidence of the rally from its social media feed. Even the promotional poster for the event has been subsequently deleted by the party, and there has been no word yet in response to the criticism.
See the post below.
Govt has limited church gatherings, weddings, funerals, traditional & all other public gatherings held outdoors to 500 ppl, & yet the ANC is allowed to have thousands in attendance with no social distancing or face masks. Is this not hypocritical? pic.twitter.com/rQMY9a6oSI
