ACDP against possibility of Alert Level 2 over Easter weekend

The ACDP has circulated a statement by its leader, Kenneth Meshoe, clarifying that it is against the suggestion of a move to Level 2 over the Easter weekend.

Kenneth Meshoe, leader of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), took to Twitter on Thursday, 25 March 2021, to circulate a statement speaking against the suggestion of a return to stricter lockdown regulations. The sentiments come amid the speculation of a return to Alert Level 2 over the upcoming Easter weekend.

Over the past weeks, reports have been discussing the threat of a third wave of the pandemic in the country. Additionally, with a staggered vaccine rollout plan, there have been calls for the public to avoid super-spreader events, like church gatherings that will take place during the Easter weekend.

Meshoe stated, “I have mentioned many times that an anti-Christ and anti-church spirit is increasing in South Africa. The ANC has used the pandemic as an excuse to severely oppress citizens, especially Christians. It is important that Christians understand their constitutional rights, pray without ceasing and stand up for what is right.”
