The ACDP leader has called on the government to put the needs of the people first, especially when it comes to fighting unemployment in South Africa.
On Thursday, 8 July 2021, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) leader, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe called on the government to use South African taxes to hire South Africans. According to Meshoe, with the high unemployment rate, there is no reason for the government to employ Cubans for jobs that could have been given to South Africans.
The ACDP leader notes that the African National Congress (ANC) government spent R64 million on a water project, using 24 Cuban engineers and over R32 million on 28 Cuban doctors. Meshoe also claims that when it comes to its own, the government says there is no money and suggests that this is indicative of a government that does not care for its people. The leader has posed the question, “Is it about communist indoctrination, or is it really because they are trying to solve our education problems?”
The ACDP opposes the outsourcing of the government’s responsibilities to foreign consultants, and what it believes is the continuous outsourcing of jobs to foreign communist countries, stating that it has gone too far. The party calls on the government to start employing South Africans first, and to stop worrying about Cubans and start worrying about unemployed South Africans instead.
