Chris kicked Alexa out of the house and Bonita vowed to make Vanessa suffer
Last night’s episode of 7de Laan focused in on family fall-outs as the Welman’s came to a loggerhead over Mariaan and Bonita vowed to make Vanessa’s life a misery.
Here is an overview of how the episode played out:
Chris arrived just too late as Mariaan had been taken in by the police. He could not believe that Alexa had tipped them off.
The following morning the whole family gathered to discuss what had happened. Rickus was disappointed by Alexa’s actions. He snapped at Ben for asking about what had happened to Mariaan.
Later, the family set off the Mariaan’s bail hearing. Upon her bail being denied, Chris ordered Alexa to vacate their family home for what she had done.
Xander suggested that he and Vanessa take Karmen to see a psychologist before allowing her to donate bone marrow. Just then, Bonita phoned to say that Daniel had yet again been admitted to the clinic.
Fikani explained that although Daniel only has a cold, his immune system would not be able to recover from the sickness. Bonita hunted Vanessa down to beg for her permission to have Karmen donate bone marrow. When Vanessa refused, Bonita vowed to make her life a misery.
Bonita then called Tony for help.
Olivia struggled to confront Diederick about his untidiness in the aparrment.
Jacob and Lesedi celebrated Mariaan’s arrest.
Andre cooked dinner for Connie. She pretended to enjoy the meal to avoid hurting his feelings.

Technical analysis
This episode was a good starter for the week ahead. There was enough action and drama to carry audience interest and also the light-hearted moments 7de Laan is so well known for.
However, it must be said that the Bonita / Vanessa storyline has been done before and shows no character development as Bonita yet again plays the vindictive side to her personality. While soap opera characters are usually stock types, perhaps the writers should consider allowing Bonita some growth as she faces new challenges.
