Bonita’s new life behind bars ended in solitude after Natalie’s constant pestering
Last night’s episode of 7de Laan played out in the Hillside women’s prison. A few familiar faces returned while Bonita struggled to come to grips with her new circumstances.
Overview
Bonita found an ally in Amanda. Amanda protected her from the warden’s harsh punishment’s and gave her advice on how to survive behind bars.
Bonita tried to phone Xander using Amanda’s call credits, but Natalie provoked her into a fight.
Chris visited Mariaan who begged him to keep their family together. Mariaan also suffered at the hands of Natalie.
Amanda revealed that she is pregnant with Justin’s baby. She will name the baby girl Jasmine.
Natalie continued to torment Bonita. She also threatened Amanda and caused her to slip resulting in her being sent to the clinic to check up on the baby.
Natalie persistently pegged Bonita against the warden and eventually succeeded in getting Bonita sent to solitary confinement.
In solitary, Bonita was taunted by a mysterious voice.
The episode closed out with the appearance of a familiar face. The warden introduced Sister Miems, who suspiciously looks a lot like Emma.

Technical analysis
Setting the entire episode inside the women’s prison brought a refreshing change to the series. The re-introduction of familiar characters was suspenseful and opens new story alleyways.
The episode was indeed very theatrical seeing the harsh setting it took place in. Amanda was well played but at times became overdone. It will be interesting to see where the writers take these downtrodden characters from here on.
