7de Laan fans, here is an overview of last night’s episode along with a preview of what is to come.
As one of South Africa’s most loved soap dramas, 7de Laan regularly delivers drama-filled plot lines propelled by intriguing character stories.
The episode on 22 May 2018 was no exception.
An overview
The episode opened with Lesedi confronting Mariaan and Chris about having tried to poison and blind her. Lesedi prevented the pair from boarding their international flight by tearing up Mariaan’s passport.
The Meintjies drama continued as the Bonita persistently phoned Xander and Charmaine to worry them over Daniel’s health. Both Xander and Charmaine were reluctant to believe Bonita’s story. However, at the end of the episode Xander was caught in a dilemma as doctors confirmed that the baby was indeed suffering from a mystery illness. Xander became concerned that Bonita had intentionally harmed Daniel to get his attention.
Vanessa and Aggie were hard at work finalising plans for the fashion show. Aggie confessed that Connie had not yet confirmed her participation in the event due to nervousness. However, Connie’s fears were calmed by Andre as he encouraged her to believe in her abilities as a designer.
Mariaan confronted Justin for revealing her devious plans to Lesedi.
The episode closed off with Chris and Lesedi heatedly arguing. Lesedi assured Chris that she was determined to reveal his family’s dark secrets and ultimately bring them down.

Thoughts
This was an intense episode, but light-hearted moments eased the tension. As is expected of television soap dramas, the acting was highly dramatic. However, at times it seemed overdone. Long overdrawn pauses added to the intensity of the scenes.
Overall, the episode was intriguing and suspenseful. Fans should be pleased with the enveloping storyline.
