Voter registration this weekend for upcoming KZN by-elections

On Wednesday, 7 February, the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) announced that voter registration for the upcoming 4 April 2018 municipal by-elections in KwaZulu-Natal would be held on Saturday, 10 February and Sunday, 11 February.

In a statement, the IEC said voting stations in uMdoni (ward 16), Mkhambathini (ward three) and Jozini (ward two) municipalities will from 08h00 to 17h00 on the aforementioned days, “allow all eligible voters to register and for current voters to check their registration details and to provide/update address details where necessary.”

The upcoming municipal by-elections are as result of the deaths of all three councilors previously allocated to the abovementioned wards and constituencies. The wards were previously an ANC majorities, with the party winning between 53 to 74 percent of the vote in the 2016 local government elections.
